This interactive session follows on from the Long Paper presentation on the research commissioned by AES into the knowledge, skills and attributes (KSAs) related to the logic of evaluation and values in evaluation practice. In this session, our goal is to hear from you about how the general logic of evaluation features in your evaluation practice, your reactions to the findings, and potential next steps for the research and updates to the AES Evaluator's Professional learning competencies. The format will be as follows
  • 10 minute recap of the findings to kick start discussion
  • 5-minute individual reflection: how participants use the logic of evaluation and what KSAs they associate with it. How does the logic of evaluation relate to you and your practice?
  • 20 minute small group roundtable discussions on the following questions:
  1. After seeing this research on the KSAs, which aspects do you feel like you need to learn? What would you like to learn and how would you like to learn it? What pathways for learning would be feasible and useful?
  2. What questions do you have about values and the general logic?
  3. To continue this research, where else should we look? Who should we talk to? What kind of evidence would you need to feel it was worth updating the competencies?
  •   15 minute sharing of findings and ideas from group discussions
